Virtual Bundle

A virtual bundle is an Amazon listing that combines two or more separate ASINs into a single purchasable offer without physical repackaging. It increases AOV and can surface complementary products to buyers who would otherwise only see one item.

What is Virtual Bundle?

Amazon's Virtual Bundles tool (Brand Registry required) allows sellers to create a new ASIN that packages multiple existing ASINs together at a bundled price. The bundle is fulfilled by picking and shipping each component ASIN separately from FBA — no physical bundling or repackaging is needed. Customers see the bundle as a single listing with its own images, title, and description.

Virtual bundles solve a key limitation: physical bundles require kitting (assembling multiple products into a single pack) at extra labour cost, and must be created as a new physical SKU. Virtual bundles create the same upsell opportunity instantly, using existing FBA inventory.

Bundles drive AOV by encouraging customers to buy complementary products together. A vitamin C serum + SPF moisturiser bundle targets the 'morning skincare routine' shopping intent — a customer searching for one product discovers and buys both. Virtual bundles also generate their own reviews as a separate ASIN, and can rank for bundle-specific keywords ('vitamin C and SPF skincare bundle').

Why it matters for sellers

Virtual bundles increase AOV without supply chain changes. If a solo product sells at $28 and a virtual bundle (product + accessory) sells at $44, the 57% higher AOV from bundle purchases flows almost entirely to margin — the only incremental cost is FBA pick-and-pack fees for the second item. For brands with complementary products, virtual bundles are one of the fastest AOV levers available on Amazon.

How to use Virtual Bundle

Identify your top-selling ASIN and map all your catalogue products that naturally complement it. Build 2–3 virtual bundles combining the bestseller with different secondary items. Price the bundle at 85–90% of the combined individual prices (10–15% bundle saving) to make the value proposition clear.

Photograph the bundle as a lifestyle 'kit shot' — all components together in use or laid out. This image performs better than showing individual product images separately. Write the bundle title and bullets specifically for the 'buying both together' intent rather than just concatenating individual product descriptions.

Real-world example

eg.

A beard care brand's Beard Oil (ASIN A) sells 280 units/month at $24. Their Beard Comb (ASIN B) sells 180 units/month at $16. They create a virtual bundle: 'Beard Care Starter Kit' priced at $36 (saving $4 vs. buying separately). The bundle generates 65 sales/month — incremental AOV of $36 vs. the average of $24 or $16 from solo purchases. Bundle customers have 40% higher 90-day repurchase rate than single-product buyers.

Frequently asked questions about Virtual Bundle

Do I need to physically assemble a virtual bundle at FBA?

No. Amazon ships each component ASIN separately from its existing FBA inventory when a virtual bundle order is placed. The customer receives two (or more) separate packages but ordered through one bundle listing. No kitting, repackaging, or special FBA prep is required — this is the primary advantage of virtual bundles over physical bundles.

Can virtual bundles have their own reviews?

Yes. Virtual bundle ASINs are separate listings and accumulate their own reviews independently of their component ASINs. However, they start at zero reviews and must build review velocity separately. This is worth the effort if the bundle has meaningful ongoing sales volume — reviews on the bundle ASIN improve its own conversion rate.

What is the difference between a virtual bundle and a physical bundle?

A virtual bundle exists only as an Amazon listing — the components ship separately from existing FBA stock, no repackaging needed. A physical bundle is a single unit physically assembled and kitted before shipping to FBA as a unique ASIN. Physical bundles allow custom packaging and a guaranteed unified unboxing experience; virtual bundles are faster to create and require no inventory changes.
