Units sold is the total number of product units sold in a given period. It is the raw output metric underlying revenue, BSR, organic rank, and reorder planning — the heartbeat of any product business.
What is Units Sold?
Units sold is the most fundamental product-level performance metric. It drives: revenue (units × average selling price); BSR (relative units sold in a category); organic rank (keyword-attributed unit velocity); inventory planning (units sold per day × lead time = reorder point); and fulfilment cost (FBA fees are charged per unit shipped).
Tracking units sold daily, weekly, and monthly — rather than just revenue — reveals true product health. A product showing steady revenue but declining units sold is likely compensating with price increases that are masking a slowing business. A product with growing units but flat revenue has a pricing or mix problem.
On Amazon, units sold data is available in Business Reports (Sales by ASIN Detail Page Sales and Traffic) and Brand Analytics. On Shopify, units sold appears in the Products report.
